Coverage and Performance Overview

The W7SP repeater is perched on Lake Mountain, providing broad reach across central and northern Utah thanks to its elevation and power. Whether you're operating mobile or portable, you’ll benefit from its strong and consistent signal.

📡 Mobile stations using 50-watt radios and a quarter-wave antenna can expect coverage across Utah and Salt Lake Counties, reaching south toward Fillmore, west into the desert, and as far north as the Idaho border. Terrain eastward into the Wasatch Mountains presents challenges, but coverage can still be achieved in elevated or open spots.

🎙️ Handheld radios (HTs) perform reliably in most of Utah County. Signal strength becomes variable in Salt Lake County — generally decent in the central valley, but less consistent in the southern areas or behind obstructions.

🔊 It's worth noting that there is a slight transmit null to the north, which may result in weaker signal strength in Davis and Weber Counties. However, reception performance remains strong — you may be able to access the repeater better than you can hear it in some locations.
